This week marks two important holidays in Israel, Yom Hazikaron, when we honor Israel’s fallen soldiers, and Israel's Independence Day, Yom Ha'atzmaut.

On this episode of HUJI Bites, we hear from Dr. Sharoni Shafir, the head of the recently established Institute of Environmental Sciences at Robert H. Smith Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Environment. The Institute works to promote research and teaching in environmental sciences in agriculture – combining the diverse research approaches of the over 40 laboratories that comprise the Institute.

Click here to learn more, as Dr. Shafir discusses Israel's incredible agricultural advancements - specifically in the study of bee biology at the B. Triwaks Bee Research Center - and honors the memory of the Center’s namesake who fell in battle at Tantura on May 23, 1948.

As a reminder, the HUJI Bites video series is available across our social media channels including Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, and Instagram with new content posting on Fridays. Each snack-size video is less than five minutes and packed with easy-to-digest facts designed to satisfy your hunger for knowledge.

Please share this week’s educational morsel with friends and family and help us spread the word about the remarkable research taking place at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

Happy #FacultyFriday!
